Privacy Policy
Last updated 4 October 2026
This policy explains what information ReadNTrade collects when you use readntrade.com, how it is used, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email us at info@readntrade.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, public handle and password. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash, never in readable form.
- Location (optional): the country, state and suburb you add to your account, and your timezone.
- Your library and listings: the books you add, their condition, notes, listing type and price, and any cover images you upload.
- Messages: the conversations you have with other members about listings.
- Sign-in records: the time and IP address of your most recent sign-in, used to keep accounts secure.
What other people can see
Your handle, your listings and the location you have added (country, state and suburb) are public, so other readers can find books near them. Your name, email address and password are never shown to other members. Messages are visible only to the people in the conversation. Books you keep private in your library are not shown to anyone.
How we use it
- To run your account and show your listings in the marketplace.
- To deliver messages between members.
- To send emails you ask for, such as password reset links.
- To protect the service from spam, abuse and unauthorised access.
We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.
Services we rely on
- Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise checks that sign-in, sign-up and password reset requests come from a person. It collects information about your device and browser, and is covered by Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
- Google Books and Open Library supply book details and cover images when you add a book by ISBN. Only the ISBN is sent; no personal information.
- Hosting and storage providers run our servers, database, email and image storage on our behalf.
Cookies and browser storage
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. To keep you signed in, we store your sign-in token in your browser's local storage, and, if you tick "Remember my email", your email address too. Signing out removes the token. Google reCAPTCHA may set its own cookies to do its job.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. You can update your details at any time on your Account page, and delete your account under Account → Security → Delete Account. Deleting your account immediately and permanently removes your profile, library, listings and conversations, including the other member's copy of those conversations. If you can't sign in, email info@readntrade.com from the address you registered with and we will delete it for you.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will let members know by email.
